January 21 , 2004 - Brad Lake Consulting Inc. (BLC) announced
the signing of a contract with PWGSC to provide Consulting Services to
execute a vital technical security assessment of PWGSC's mainframe
systems.
PWGSC, a large Canadian Federal Government Department has been
operating a mainframe environment for many years. In recent years, new
technology has provided mainframe clients with options as to how they
would like to access mainframe data. While system designers wrestle
with new technologies and how to securely implement them, unanswered
questions have arisen on the security profile of existing mainframes.
Consequently, PWGSC saw the need for an assessment of existing
mainframe system configurations, platforms, security services such as
IBM RACF, CA-Top Secret and CA-ACF2, along with an evaluation of
operational LPAR isolation integrity.
Opening a mainframe to the Internet presents new, uncharted challenges
and therefore a key component of this critical security assessment will
be a review and appraisal of the impact of recent technologies such as
native Internet Protocol (IP) and IBM WebSphere.
BLC's management consulting services are designed
to help our clients reap the full benefits from the changes that
reshape their organizations. Accordingly, our approach is based on
respect and dialogue.
